Desire! Everything you want to know before you go!

5 Star Review by jenluvs2travel of  New York 2010
Trip Advisor

Before going to Desire, we read and re-read the reviews to make sure we were making the right decision. I was so thankful for all the reviews/posts so I might know what to expect. For this reason, my review is long but includes all you will ever need to know. 1 Room. 2 Arriving. 3 Theme Nights. 4 Food. 5 Service. 6 Pool . 7 Disco. 8 Playroom. 9 Swingers/Lifestylers

ROOM- Our room (# 2414) was at the far left end of the resort and the pool /Jacuzzi were at the far left. The reason was so that we could party when we wanted and also have quiet when we wanted. The resort is not huge so for you to walk from one side to the other would take less than 2 minutes so really no room is too far away. Room 2414 was a "garden room" but we could still see the ocean from our so it was very nice. We had 6 drawers for clothes, 2 night stand drawers, 7-8 cubbies, 3 chairs, 1 eating table. The lights in the room weren't very bright. At night, I found it not bright enough to put on make-up. Ladies, you may want to pack a 75 watt bulb in your purse. Water pressure- Great, water temp- Good and Hot. Bed was very-very firm! Pillows were dense and heavy. One pillow in the closet was inside a clear plastic bag was best. I think it was down. Also there are 3 big mirrors in the room. We had an Iron, but no board. 10 hangers and the AC was perfect. The Safe is free although there is a place to slide your credit card, you don't have to. Our room smelled fine, no mold or mildew. The wall hair dryer was actually good enough that I never used the one that I brought. Normally, I don't like the wall hair dryers. Shampoo and conditioner is unlimited and provided. It is acceptable. I brought my own soap so I never used theirs. If you like a quiet room you can "pre-check in" on their website 1 or 2 days in advance and request a specific type of room. We had read that the rooms near the Jacuzzi and the pool are louder due to the "party traffic" of people leaving the Disco or Jacuzzi at all hours of the night. There are 4 rooms directly below the Jacuzzi. If you get one of those rooms, you will be at "ground zero" for the evening activities (until 3am) also if you are in the building with the Jacuzzi your view will be the staff parking lot.

ARRIVAL. The entrance is neat. They give you champagne and a cool towel upon arrival. They will want you to sign up for their "vacation club" Translation… Timeshare. They offered us a $70.00 gift certificate if we attended. Our friends said no until they increased the certificate to $100 and they did attend and then spent the gift certificate at the gift shop. We did not go.

THEME NIGHTS The women dressed up a lot more fancier than the men: of course. Monday is Black Tie/High Heels. Very few men wore ties (I saw two) but all the men wore long pants and nice shoes. Tuesday is Sexy white. This can mean anything from a white elegant evening gown to a white G-string and a pair of white nipple tassels. Since there is a dress code for the restaurants, some women wore a white dress to dinner and then changed into something more white and sexy at 8p when the band started. Wednesday, is called Eyes Wide Shut. You can buy a variety of beautiful masks in the gift shop and the resort loans out capes for the evening. You must wear a cape if you want to participate in the sexual ceremony. We wore masks and watched the ceremony. It is a fun night. The dress code for the restaurants at night is pretty much followed so Guys, bring at least one pair of long pants and a pair of dress shoes.
FOOD. First let me preface this by saying I'm not a picky eater. I'm happy with anything from Hamburger Helper to Steak. Breakfast was great!! They have a lady who makes eggs/omelets fresh to order and everyday they have toast, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit, and doughnuts. If you want to be adventurous, they have local breakfast cuisine too. But if you want a safe "Denny's style Grand Slam" you'll be quite happy. WARNING!! The coffee tastes horrible!! I'm just a regular person who drinks Folgers or Maxwell house in the mornings. Plus, I loved the coffee we had in Mexico before. I had to buy a small jar of instant coffee (instant coffee is not ideal, however it trumped the resort's coffee hands down) and I would bring it with me to breakfast and just ask for hot water. I strongly recommend bringing either the stuff necessary to brew your own coffee because they have a 4 cup coffee maker in the hotel rooms or bring a can of General Foods International Coffee. Lunch, They have Fajitas', burgers, pizza, etc pool side.. it was great! Dinner. All the restaurants were good. We liked the French one the least. I'm not one for "food art" You know the type. Two green beans in an X shape with some sauce drizzled across it and two green olives on the side. If you like that stuff then you'll love the French Restaurant. The Asian Restaurant was great! Across the board the desserts were disappointing, but for me that was a blessing in disguise.

SERVICE- the service was great. Sylvia and Daniel at the pool are super! We would normally tip $1 at every meal (that was total not individually) and we were always greeted with a smile. We were there for seven days so for $21 in tips we got AWESOME –Attentive service. Also, I noticed some people didn't tip much or maybe at all and they were treated well too.

POOL "4-24-10 11:16am, Sitting here by the pool there are 63 people. All the women are topless except for 3. The age range of the group. Ages 20-35=Very Few, Ages 36-55=Very Many, Ages 56 and older=Few. Many women in all the age groups have breast implants, But not all. Okay, Body Sizes: (Underweight/Skinny= Very Few) (Normal Weight–to - 20lbs Overweight=MANY) (25lbs Overweight-to-50lbs Overweight= Many) (55lbs Overweight and higher=Very Few) When I arrived here, I had never been naked in public before but something about the atmosphere makes you feel at ease. I was topless after about one hour and completely naked after the first day. "When in Rome" Pool Activities- Volley ball- Fun and No Skill Required!! People who suck are just as welcome as people who are pretty good. Yogi- Fun and no skill required. Belly Dancing- Fun and no skill required. Small note: Beware! Don't volunteer for pool games unless you are good at taking a joke. Some staff enjoy playing tricks/jokes on game contestants and a very few people were getting their feelings hurt. If you can laugh at yourself you'll be just fine. I never saw anyone having sex at or around the pool. Beach Beds. You don't need to pay $20 a day for a beach bed. Most people prefer to sit by the pool during the day because that is where all the action is and it is fun to "people watch" and sun bathe. All you have to do is reserve a couple of lounge chairs in the morning on your way to breakfast with Daniel. He will write your name down and tell you your lounge chair number and then they are yours as long as you show up in the next two hours and sit in them. It's Free! Also, as long as you don't abandon them for more than two hours, they are yours for the whole day. People will show up to the pool between 7am-10am to begin reserving their chairs so if you like to sleep in, like we do, Just take turns waking up, walk over quickly, make your reservation, then go back to bed for two hours. SIMPLE!

JACUZZI The Jacuzzi opens at 1pm and is the place to be from 4p-7p. You will see body shots on the bar and couples mingling. (I never saw anyone have sex there between 4p-7p. People will start to gather at the Jacuzzi again about Midnight to 3am and then you will see some couples (few) having sex on the nearby beach beds but never in the Jacuzzi.

DISCO The Disco is fun. It opens at 10pm. Some women will end up losing their dresses and dance topless. I never saw anyone having sex in the Disco.

PLAYROOM The play room is right off the disco. They have 5-6 round beds in there. Also, they have Porn playing on two flat screen televisions and various couples having sex. I never saw any threesomes or group sex, we only saw individual couples having sex. The playroom was pretty busy from 10p-2a. If you choose, you can go in there as a couple, and just watch.
SWINGERS/LIFESTYLERS During our vacation (1 week) we met several couples maybe 6 or 7 total. Because it is a small resort, you'll meet people very fast. We are not swingers and all the couples we met there weren't really either. We all danced with each other's Husbands, some of the wives sat on the laps of a few men who weren't their husbands, a few husbands "sun screened" a few women who they weren't their wives. Additionally, a few women were willing to let a few guys drink whiskey shots out of their belly buttons while at the Jacuzzi. Not all women, but some. Not all husbands participated, but some did. It was super fun and everyone was very respectful. If you wanted to be involved, super, if not that is fine too. Everyone was very accepting of different bodies, no one was disrespectful and everyone felt included. Some couples who had been there before said they had seen the resort "wilder" but it really depends on the people who happen to be there. If you are not interested in wife-swapping I can tell you that you will be in the majority.

LAST FEW TIPS: You'll have a Great Time! We will be back for Sure.
1. Bring Mosquito Repellant!
2. The Gym is hot and they do not provide fans.
3. If you own a lap top, you can access the internet for free in the computer room, because that room is WiFi. If you don't bring a laptop, you have to pay a small charge to use their computers.
4. Bring a Nail repair Kit! If you break a nail, you're out of luck because they don't do nails in the spa.
5. They provide umbrellas if it rains.
