Lifestyle Cruising Hacks

Magnets come in handy: Don't underestimate the versatility of this item as it might prove to come in handy during particular situations. For instance, you have to place important documents and invitations where you could easily see them. Just pull out a magnet and place them conveniently at a location where you can find them right away. Most of your cabin is made of metal. Hence, you'll never miss out in using this one for sure.

Hanging Space: Since most of us think that cabin closets don't provide enough hanging space to accommodate our stuff, then why not make one for your own convenience instead. Simply place the magnetic hooks to any metallic surface and you can use it for hanging your caps, scarves, name tags, and other accessories.

Bring a shoe organizer: Having this item will help you organize all your stuff properly. Simply place it right at the back of your closet or bathroom door and place it with all the things you want to grab quickly. This in turn will save you a lot of time looking for your stuff while the rest of the people are already having fun outside.

Roll your clothes: This might be an old trick, but the simple rolling of garments will actually give you more space compared to the usual folding. This is very handy especially if you plan to go on a long trip that requires you to bring more clothes

Invest in a power port: Surge protectors are not allowed on cruise ships and will be confiscated; but you can bring a USB power port for all of those gadgets like phones, tablets and cameras. And don't forget the adapter if you are traveling on a European cruise line. Better yet, get one adapter that does it all!

Ziploc bags: Ziploc bags should be in every traveler's packing list for a lot of good reasons. They are quite useful and versatile. They are also great in keeping many of your stuff organized. You can put small bottles of toiletries and liquid containers in them. This will keep liquids contained in the bag in case of sudden breakages or leaks. You can also put wet swimsuits or swimming gears like goggles inside Ziploc bags to keep your carry on or excursion bag dry. They can also be useful in keeping your electronic and mobile devices as well as your passport and money dry.

Avoid ATM fees: Most of time, cruise ships charge customers with a $5 or more fee just to withdraw money from their ATM machine. In order to avoid this extra fee, simply go to the slot machine at the ship's casino and insert your cabin card. Then, deposit the desired amount you want to withdraw and press the "cash out" button to retrieve the ticket and have it exchanged for money at the cashier.

Free WiFi at ports: WiFi or Internet access shipboard could cost you over $1.00 per minute. And it is not like cruise lines have the fastest Internet connections on their ships. You would probably avoid spending too much time online given the costs. On the upside, you can surf online to your heart's content when the ship docks in its various ports of call. But it may not always be easy to find the best free WiFi spots on the island. Thankfully, you can always chat with the ship's crew members while at sea to get a few tips. Many crew members, especially those who have been working on the ship for a long time, usually have explored port destinations before. You can gather a lot of information just by chatting with them.
